My Top 5 Podcast Episodes of 2018
Entrepreneurship has become quite the buzzword this year, and while it’s super exciting to see more and more people taking the leap, there’s lots of work that goes into owning your own business. Our world is constantly changing, and in order to grow and evolve as an entrepreneur, we must seek information and continue learning all that we can. I’ve vowed to always remain a student, and audiobooks and podcasts are my favorite way to soak in new knowledge and sharpen my skills while on the go. So without further ado, here are my top 5 podcast episodes of 2018!
1. The Gary Vee Audio Experience
You Don’t Need To Be Set At 18 | Auckland Q&A Keynote
December 8, 2018
Success is a journey, not a destination and there’s no such thing as an overnight success. This episode provides a great mix of motivation, advice and practical tips on how to grow your business. Gary also explains his method of creating 500 pieces of content. I love when people talk about the “how to” rather than just giving platitudes about running your business.
2. The Tim Ferris Show
#343: Seth Godin On How to Say “No,” Market Like a Professional, and Win at Life
November 1, 2018
We often over-commit ourselves and end up failing because we try to do too many things and this episode talks about how to avoid that. I love the idea of having a year of “no”. I have been trying to be great at many things rather than being a master of a few. Seth and Tim talk about boundaries and standards, which every entrepreneur and business professional can benefit from.
3. Myleik Teele/#Mytaughtyou
Inbox: My Boss Got Fired, Didn’t Get Dream Job, Tell Me How You Tinder(ed)!
May 11, 2018
I love when Myleik does her Q&A. She often gives amazing advice as it pertains to career, climbing the ladder, running a business, finances, you name it, she’s covering it. She also goes into her love life a bit which is an area that I feel entrepreneurs struggle with at times. This episode gives great practical advice on how to handle curveballs and roadblocks in your career.
4. The Crazy One, Stephen Gates
Creativity: How to Fight Imposter Syndrome
October 21, 2018
Imposter syndrome is the bane of my existence. I’ve had to continually fight it, especially this year with having a larger role with one of my clients. Often times that little voice in our head tells us that we’re not qualified or don’t belong in a room but that couldn’t be further from the truth. This episode focuses on speaking to graphic designers but imposter syndrome affects all creatives and the information is applicable.
5. Art of Charm
#694: Toolbox | Becoming High Value
February 28, 2018
The Art of Charm is one of the first podcasts I ever listened to. This episode talks about being a person of high value which is the idea that you BRING something to the table rather than taking from it (low value). It provides a great perspective on how we engage with people and what we seek to give to others. It challenges us and teaches us how to be better partners, friends, colleagues, teammates, etc. which is based on our willingness to commit to being high-value people.
Until next year!
